A recent Washington Post article identified employee turnover and poor morale as challenges at the Department of Homeland Security that will prevent DHS from achieving its mission of securing the nation. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) reiterated his confidence in Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and urged patience in allowing the Secretary time to change the culture within the Department.

This from a politically-agenda-free retiring-senator more known for his criticism than support of government departments.

“Few members of Congress have raised more questions about the Department and its programs than I have,” commented Dr. Coburn, ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. “But I have the utmost confidence in Secretary Jeh Johnson’s ability to lead and reform the Department. You cannot fix problems that have developed over many years overnight, and the Secretary deserves our patience as he works to change the culture at DHS.”

Owls hammer TU

TUFootballLogoBOCA RATON, FL—It was a bad night for the Golden Hurricane. TU quarterback Dane Evans gave up two interceptions in the first half, one that was returned for a touchdown and another that killed a Golden Hurricane drive on the FAU four yard line.

For one thing, the attendance was just 643 away from a full sellout at 29,357 on a wet and cool pre-fall afternoon, but that is tangential to a few facts about the game that will very likely go unnoticed due to the ridiculously lopsided number of points on the scoreboard.

Sen. Inhofe: Reid obstruction endangering troops

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK)

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D., Nev.) refusal to permit a key defense bill from coming to a vote is endangering U.S. troops around the world and allowing terror groups to gain strength, according to Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.), who is spearheading a new campaign to expose Reid’s dangerous behavior.

The entire U.S. defense apparatus, as well as the U.S. military, depends on a key yearly spending bill known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a piece of legislation that outlines and funds the nation’s national security priorities.
