The Oklahoma All-Stars captured the PGA Junior League Golf South Regional held over the weekend at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow. They now advance to the PGA Junior League Golf Championship Nov. 5-8, held this year at Disney’s Palm Course at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

They’re in: Tulsa Shock playoff preview

ShockMascottUsually, when a team clinches a playoff berth their fans are filled with excitement at the prospect that their team might have a shot at a potential championship. After all, as the many clichés about the post season will tell you, it is the second season, every team is at 0-0, and all the rest of that rot.

That would be fine and dandy for any other team but the Tulsa Shock.

No matter how the 2015 WNBA season ends for the team, they will not be the Tulsa Shock anymore. It has been played out time and again that this is the final season for the WNBA in Tulsa no matter how deep Fred Williams and his team ply through the playoffs. It doesn’t matter whether or not they bow out in the first round or raise the championship trophy at the end of September they are done and bound for the Dallas suburb of Arlington for 2016 and beyond.

Cassini finds global ocean in Saturn’s Enceladus

A global ocean lies beneath the icy crust of Saturn’s geologically active moon Enceladus, according to new research using data from NASA’s Cassini mission.

Researchers found the magnitude of the moon’s very slight wobble, as it orbits Saturn, can only be accounted for if its outer ice shell is not frozen solid to its interior, meaning a global ocean must be present.

Mayfield, Sooners pass Akron

OU15Akron1After a sluggish start, the newly installed Lincoln Riley Air Raid offense finally got rolling in the second and third quarters Saturday night and the Oklahoma Sooners cruised to a 41-3 victory over the Akron Zips, to the delight of the 99th consecutive home sellout crowd of the Bob Stoops era.

Early possessions and punt return yards were dogged by penalties and the Sooners were unable to find any rhythm early on.

Shock clinch playoff berth with two big wins

ShockFeaver1TULSA, OK—The bittersweet saga of the Tulsa Shock has a new and somewhat bizarre twist as for the first time in the six years in Tulsa (and their final year in Oklahoma) they will make the WNBA Playoffs.

They accomplished the feat by winning five straight, extending the Tulsa era record to 14.

The two wins this weekend boosting the Shock over the top and into the WNBA’s big dance were victories over the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever – by all measure significant wins.
