When considered properly, dad jokes are an intricately multi-layered and fascinating phenomenon that reveals a lot not just about how humor and joke-telling work but also about fathers’ psychology and their relationships with their children. Dad jokes work on at least three levels: as puns, as anti-humor, and as a kind of weaponized anti-humor when dads use them to teasingly annoy and/or embarrass their children. Damar Hamlin matters to you

Millions of people saw Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin collapse on the football field January 2. He was tackled, fell down, and at first stood up. Even to aficionados of the game, this looked no different from what usually happens throughout the game.

But then his heart stopped, and he collapsed. At this moment, he has returned home and continues his road to recovery after vigorous CPR on the field. In all likelihood, his promising career is over.

OK to prevent minor gender transition

Rep. Jim Olsen, R-Roland has filed legislation to prohibit health care professionals from providing gender transition services to people under the age of 21 in Oklahoma.

House Bill 1011 prohibits health care professionals from providing, attempting to provide or providing a referral for puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and gender reassignment surgeries for healthy people under the age of 21.

Private Medicine trumps Private Equity

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been living in a frenzied political atmosphere of inflation worries, unaddressed crime, Covid, monkeypox, and a variety of social issues. These are distractions from thinking about the big picture: the march toward government and corporate control over our lives, including absorbing medical practice into the statist-corporate complex.

While many say that COVID-19 brought out the flaws in public health, it has also highlighted the joys and advantages of private practice medicine. People who are disappointed in the oft-times unscientific public health recommendations and mandates have benefited from seeking advice from private practitioners. Sadly, we are on the road to losing private practice, the heart of good medicine.
