Updated Analysis: Another week of stupid in both media and politics passes with President Obama’s understanding of history and religion proven less than childish and NBC Anchor Brian Williams shown deliberately and manipulatively untrue.
True in common: If their mouths are moving, they are lying. No spot of honor in ’em.
First in offense, President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast insulted all Christians adding evidence that he is, if ever honest, America’s First Muslim President. He doesn’t understand the Christian faith or secular history.
Second only because NBC long lost credibility stands Williams’ hamfisted attempt to fabricate courage from zero to hero.
Political analyst Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News Thursday he was “stunned’ by remarks President Barack Obama made earlier in the day at the National Prayer Breakfast where Obama asserted that violence committed in the name of Islam was not so different from the violence committed by Christians during the Crusades.
“And lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”
Shall we tally death by decade in the name of Islam? The Crusades were a few years ago by the way. In the modern age; only Islam is so universally bloody – a problem Muslims must fix.
Ben Shapiro writing for Breitbart.com details Obama’s comments as, “historically and philosophically illiterate. Historically speaking, the Crusades were a response to Islamic aggression in Europe and the Middle East; the Inquisition, as Jonah Goldberg points out while quoting historian Thomas Madden, director of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Saint Louis University, was designed to regularize executions rather than leaving them to the will of the masses. Christians undoubtedly pursued horrible brutalities against people, including innocent Jews. However, as Goldberg points out, ‘Christianity, even in its most terrible days, even under the most corrupt popes, even during the most unjustifiable wars, was indisputably a force for the improvement of man.’ Click here for Shapiro’s entire analysis.
Krauthammer was appalled by the comparison.
“I was stunned that the president could say something so at once banal and offensive,” he said. Just days after the Islamic State burned a Jordanian pilot alive in a cage, Krauthammer noted, “the present issue is Muslim radicalism and how to attack it.”
For the less civil, more humorous and excessively profane review, comedian Jim Norton goes completely off on, again, both Obama’s unwillingness to even say ‘Islamic Terrorism’ and the NBC anchor’s “nonsense” apology… like “listening to Obama talk about ISIS.”
