It has been 100 years and you are doing fine Oklahoma. The Centennial committees throughout the state have done fabulous work in pulling this year-long celebration together and all Oklahomans should be proud.
Tonight on Oklahoma Educational Television (OETA) the Oklahoma Centennial Spectacular features an unprecedented gathering of Oklahoma’s most famous sons and daughters. The “Celebration of a Century” features performances from native Oklahomans including country music icons Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and Toby Keith.

Not to be celebration cynics, but some natives in the Tulsa Today office suggest that Oklahoma is a wealthy state made poor by state government corruption (see Gene Stipe for more detail) and if Oklahoma really wanted economic development – they would take the toll off the road between the state’s two major metropolitan cities, reduce bloated bureaucracy and lower taxes.
Now back to the celebration.
