Kyle Grooms, who has spent the past eight years as director of football operations at The University of Tulsa, has been promoted to the position of associate athletics director for internal operations, announced today by director of athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg.
Grooms, a 2008 TU graduate, has been responsible for the football team’s daily operations, practice scheduling and team travel arrangements during his eight seasons with the Golden Hurricane football program.
Prior to his appointment at Tulsa, Grooms spent one year working for Caption Colorado, a real -time closed captioning business. Before that, he was a graduate assistant for athletics administration at Tulsa, while pursuing his master’s degree in business. Grooms earned his master’s degree in 2010, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in marketing two years early.
As an undergraduate student, Grooms was a four-year letterman for the Tulsa football program, where he was a member of four Hurricane bowl games. Grooms came to Tulsa as a walk-on athlete in 2003 and was put on scholarship in his junior season. He played in 44 career games and was a captain of the 2007 team.
Grooms and his wife Jess have two sons: Eli and Jennings.
