New OK exam vendor improves licensing

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak

The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) has partnered with Prometric® to offer an improved insurance and bail bondsman licensing process. As of May 1, Prometric® supports the development and delivery of exam content for all of OID’s statewide licensing examinations.

“Partnering with Prometric® is showing our commitment to providing a positive testing experience,” said Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. “We’re now able to offer the best quality service to these candidates by giving them more choices and top-notch support for where and when they want to take their exams.”

Oklahoma requires insurance professionals and bail bondsmen to hold a license before working in the industry. Passing the exam is the first step to becoming licensed. Testing will now be delivered in Prometric’s secure, computer-based testing network which will provide an environment that reliably assesses an individual’s relevant knowledge.

“We are proud to support the State’s licensing program and advance the careers of qualified professionals in earning the licenses they need to reach their career goals and legally operate in the marketplace,” said Prometric® CEO Charlie Kernan.

With more than two decades specializing in state licensing examinations, our collaboration will set new standards in candidate convenience, easy access and flexible testing in a secure, standardized setting,” Kernan added.

While candidates will notice some slight changes to the scheduling and registration process, OID is dedicated to offering:
Easy-to-follow instructions and instant access to resources they may need to prepare for test day
Conveniently-located testing centers across the state with support and plenty of available seats in a comfortable, yet secure, testing environment
A user-friendly test interface that features the latest in web-based navigation tools and larger screen displays

While Prometric is OID’s new exam service provider, the exams and exam content outlines are not changing. This is good news for candidates who have been preparing for or need to retake an exam.
