The ECHL announced on Thursday afternoon that Tulsa Oilers defenseman Scott Macauley will represent the team at the 2015 ECHL All Star Game to be held in Orlando, FL on Wednesday, January 21st.
Macauley is the only Oiler who will make the trip to the Sunshine State to participate on the All-Star squad, who will play the Orlando Solar Bears in the annual ECHL mid-season classic.
“This is an extremely deserving honor for Scott and I know he will represent the Oilers’ organization in a first-class manner at the All-Star game,” said Tulsa head coach, Bruce Ramsay. “We’ve known for a couple years now that we have something special with Scott and I’m excited for the rest of the league to be able to get a glimpse of his speed, his intelligence, and his offensive capabilities.”
Macauley has been a standout on the blue line for Tulsa this season, his second as a professional. He has appeared in every game the Oilers have played thus far and as of this writing has six goals and 18 assists for 24 points. Scott has doubled his number of goals scored with half of the season elapsed and he is tops on the Tulsa squad with four game-winning goals and is tied for the team lead with ten power play points.
In the ECHL, Macauley ranks second in points and is only one point shy of tying his rookie total of 25 points.
“It’s a privilege to be recognized and selected to the All-Star team but I wouldn’t have this opportunity without the help of my teammates,” Macaulay remarked. “Honestly, I feel like we have so many guys on our team who are playing great hockey this season so it’s definitely humbling for me to be selected. I’m looking forward to being part of a great event in Orlando and I want to thank the league and all the people who voted for giving me this opportunity.”
Macauley and his teammates will be in action tonight in Rapid City.
