Northeast OK fishing report

FishingOK4The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is reporting today that fish are still biting despite the warmer temperatures.

In Northeast Oklahoma the following lakes are reporting:

Bell Cow: July 6. Elevation below normal, water 83. Largemouth bass slow on jigs and sassy shad at 8 ft. around standing timber. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around docks. Channel catfish good on punch bait along shorelines at night. Report submitted by Gary Emmons, game warden stationed in Lincoln County.


Carl Blackwell: July 8. Elevation below normal, water 73. Largemouth bass slow on minnows, topwater lures and plastic baits at 2-5 ft. along shorelines, points and weed beds. Striped bass hybrids, white bass and saugeye good on crankbaits in shad and crawfish patterns, live bait, sassy shad, spoons and slabs at 4-9 ft. in the main creek channel between the flats on the north side of the lake. Channel catfish excellent on chicken liver, shad, live bait, goldfish and cut bait at 1-16 ft. in coves, riprap and rocks. Flathead catfish excellent on juglines and trotlines baited with live bait. Juglines and trotlines are restricted to west of the ski boundary. Bluegill excellent on caddis flies, nymphs, minnows, worms and small jigs from the surface to 6 ft. in coves, around docks and shallows. Report submitted by Chris Pulchny.

Chandler: July 6. Elevation below normal, water 83. Crappie slow on minnows around the docks and dam. Channel catfish fair on cut bait, punch bait and worms along shorelines at night. Flathead catfish fair on sunfish along shorelines at night. Largemouth bass slow on small lures in the main lake. Report submitted by Gary Emmons, game warden stationed in Lincoln County.

FishingOK2Copan: July 7. Elevation normal, water 83. Channel, blue and flathead catfish good on chicken liver, cut bait and stinkbait in the main lake, channels and below the dam. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.

Ft. Gibson: July 4. Elevation above normal, water 81. Blue, flathead and channel catfish fair on punch bait, shad and sunfish on juglines and rod-and-reel at 15 ft. in the main lake, flats and around points. White bass good on crankbaits, small lures and jigs at 10 ft. around points, flats and the main lake. Crappie slow on minnows and jigs at 15 ft. around brush structure and docks. Grand: July 5. Elevation normal, water 85. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits and jigs around points. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around docks. Blue catfish fair on cut bait and shad along flats. White bass fair on topwater lures and jigs in the main lake. Channel catfish slow on cut bait along flats. Report submitted Kody Moore, game warden stationed in Delaware County.

Greenleaf: July 8. Elevation normal, water 74 and clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, bill baits and spinnerbaits in chartreuse and white. Catfish good on fresh cut bait on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 8-12 ft. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

Hudson: July 8. Elevation above normal, water 78. Crappie slow on jigs at 14 ft. around brush structure. Blue and channel catfish slow on shad at 18 ft. in channels. Largemouth bass slow on plastic baits at 5-8 ft. around brush structure. Report submitted by Steve Loveland, game warden stationed in Rogers and Mayes counties.

Hulah: July 7. Elevation normal, water 82. Channel, blue and flathead catfish good on chicken liver, cut bait and stinkbait in channels and below the dam. Report submitted by Joe Alexander, game warden stationed in Washington County.

Kaw: July 7. Elevation above normal, water 82. Crappie slow on minnows and jigs at 18-24 ft. around brush structure and riprap. Blue, channel and flathead catfish slow on live bait, cut bait, worms, stinkbait and noodling at 2-8 ft. along rocks and shorelines. Striped bass hybrids, white bass and striped bass fair on crankbaits and spoons at 12-30 ft. in the main lake, along riprap and below the dam; trolling in the main lake over humps has been the most successful. Walleye slow on crankbaits and minnows at 4-8 ft. below the dam. Carp, gar and buffalo good bowfishing at 1-4 ft. below the dam.  Report submitted by Spencer Grace, game warden stationed in Kay County.

Keystone: July 8. Elevation above normal, water 82. Striped bass good on live shad. White bass good along riprap. Blue catfish fair on cut bait in channels.  Report submitted by Karlin Bailey, game warden stationed in Creek County.

Lower Illinois: July 7. Elevation normal, water 55-74. Trout fair on Power Bait, small lures and drifting nymphs below the dam, tail water, eddies when releasing and deep holes when there is no current. Trout fishing is decent with Power Bait working in in deep holes. Trout being caught on spinnerbaits early and late. Report submitted by Jeremy Bersche, game warden stationed in Sequoyah County.

Oologah: July 6. Elevation above normal, water 75. Blue and channel catfish good on shad at 5-10 ft. below the dam. White bass fair on crankbaits at 10-15 ft. trolling the flats. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits at 5-10 ft. around the rocks. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 10-15 ft. around brush structure. Blue and channel catfish fair on chicken liver, shad and shrimp at 10-15 ft. in creek channels.  Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers County.

FishingOK1Sooner: July 7. Elevation normal. Saugeye slow on crankbaits around points. Striped bass hybrids and white bass slow on shad and sassy shad in the main lake. Blue and channel catfish slow on cut bait and live bait in channels and around points. Report submitted by Doug Gottschalk, game warden stationed in Noble County.

Tenkiller: July 7. Elevation above normal, water 80-82. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on plastic baits, topwater lures and spinnerbaits at 3-15 ft. in the main lake, around points and along shorelines. Channel and blue catfish fair on cut bait, worms and shad at 7-15 ft. and 30-40 ft. along flats, the river channel, drift the shallows and set flip-flops deep. Crappie slow on tube jigs and on minnows at 15-20 ft. around brush structure and docks; some action under lights. White bass being caught under lights at night. Bluegill and sunfish fair on worm tipped jigs at 5-15 ft. in coves and docks. Report submitted by Monte Brooks, Cookson, Okla.

Webbers Falls: July 8. Elevation normal, water 76 and murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and jig-and-worm at 4-12 ft. along riprap, brush structure and creek channels. Catfish good on fresh cut bait drifting and on bottom along the mudflats. Crappie fair on minnows around bridges and brush structure.
