Civil Twilight is a 3-piece band that originally formed in Cape Town, South Africa. They made the move to live in the U.S. three years ago to further their music career and to work with some of the best producers in the world. The band consists of; Steven McKellar (vocals, bass, piano, keyboards), Andrew McKellar (guitar) and Richard Wouters (drums).
Civil Twilight has already struck a chord with Prime Time T.V. with their song “Human” which was featured on Without a Trace and House. Their song “Letters from the Sky” was featured on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Most recently, their song “Next To Me” was featured on Degrassi High, a show on Teen Nick (Nickelodeon).
The bands musical influences include; Oasis, U2 and Nirvana to The Verve, The Police, Muse and Radiohead. You can definitely hear a heavy resemblance of a young Bono throughout their self titled Album that was released on Wine-Up Records. The album was first released only digitally, July 21, 2009 then later became available on CD.
If you are looking for music with meaning and with a diverse sound, there is no doubt you will become a fan of Civil Twilight. Head out this Saturday night to check them out. The Spring Standards will be opening the show.
