Samantha Crain is having her CD release party at the Cain’s side stage (Bob’s) this Friday night. If this is a new name for you, I can tell you that she is an American songwriter, musician, and singer, from Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Crain has lent her voice to recordings for The Hudson Branch, Stephen Sebastian, Ali Harter, Brine Webb, Matt Hopper, and others. In 2009, she toured along with The Avett Brothers, William Elliott Whitmore, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Langhorne Slim, and Sister Suvi.
Spin Magazine named Samantha among the 30 Artists that should be seen at Bonnaroo 2010! "This 23-year-old singer-songwriter’s work is taken straight from the heartland, mixing rural love stories ("Traipsing Through the Aisles") with laments to the Lord ("The River"), all backed by the subtly-crafted folk of her band, the Midnight Shivers. Her confident storytelling belies her young age."
"Samantha’s new album, You (Understood (out June 8), honors 16 specific people in her life who significantly influenced her craft. This alternative, indie- soul artist is sure to please."
I encourage you to venture out this Friday night and check out this show!
